Andalusia Awarded Save America's Treasure Grant for Hill House

On February 1, 2011, the National Park Service awarded the Foundation a Save America's Treasures matching grant in the amount of $120,000 to completely restore the Hill house.

The Federal Save America’s Treasures program is one of the largest and most successful grant programs for the protection of our nation’s endangered and irreplaceable cultural heritage. Grants are available for preservation and/or conservation work on nationally-significant intellectual and cultural artifacts and historic structures and sites. Intellectual and cultural artifacts include artifacts, collections, documents, sculpture, and works of art. Historic structures and sites include historic districts, sites, buildings, structures, and objects.

Like most government-funded programs, the Save America's Treasures grant must be matched, dollar for dollar, by the grant recipient. With the help of other grants and donations from our generous Friends, the Foundation has raised $40,000 to match this federal grant, but we still have a ways to go. Please consider making an additional gift this year to help us save the Hill house.
