Visiting Andalusia |
|
| Andalusia is open
for self-guided "walk-in" tours on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m. All
other visits are by appointment only by calling 478-454-4029.
Andalusia is closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, MLK Day,
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas
Day. Group
trolley tours can be scheduled by calling the Milledgeville Convention &
Visitors Bureau at 800-653-1804. In
addition to seeing the landscape that inspired so much of O'Connor's
fiction, visitors to the farm may enter the Main House and view Flannery
O'Connor's room, the dining room, the front hallway, the kitchen, the north
corner addition, and
the gift shop. All guests are
encouraged to stay and watch the PBS video production of O'Connor's story,
"The Displaced Person," which was filmed on location at Andalusia in 1976. Photographs are permitted
anywhere on the farm complex but are prohibited inside the Main House.

O'Connor's Childhood Home |
|
|
Did
you know that Flannery O'Connor's Childhood Home in Savannah is also open
for tours? O'Connor lived in the house at 207 East Charlton Street
from 1925 until 1938.
Today, it is maintained partly as a memorial to her and partly as a
literary center for Savannah. The house is open to the public on Saturdays
and Sundays. It is also the location for a fall and spring lecture
series as well as other special events. Visit them on the web at
http://www.flanneryoconnorhome.org/
for more information. |
